She began her career in 1990 in an off Broadway production called The Big Funk, by John Patrick Shanley. The following year, she was chosen for her first television role, The Perfect Tribute. In 1992, she was enlisted as an actor supporting the character Basic Instinct. It marked the beginning of her successful professional career. For The Firm, she played the role of lead female for the very first time. The film was filmed with Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. The 90s saw her working with a number of top actors from Hollywood, such as Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Hugh Grant. Recenty, she played Dr Alex Blake (a police procedural-crime drama) in Criminal Minds.
